The 2024-25 Ocean State Star Awards winners have been announced! Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of “Back to the 80s: The Totally Awesome Musical” for putting on a show back in December that still has the audience and adjudicators raving about the Avenger Theater program!
A big round of applause for the students who are being recognized in the following categories:
- Outstanding Lead Performer: Hayley Pezza as Cyndi Gibson
- Outstanding Acting Performer: Giancarlos Dominguez as Feargal McFerrin III
- Outstanding Acting Performer: Haydon Armstrong as Stevie McFly
- Rising Star: Madison Hennessy as Tiffany Houston
In addition to the individual honors, our show also received a special Honorable Mention in Technical Achievement for Video Production and Projection Design for our student designers Eben Byler and Gillian Prisco.
The Ocean State Star Awards program is part of an education initiative by the Providence Performing Arts Center which recognizes, honors, and encourages excellence in all aspects of musical theater performance and production among area high school students. The students listed above have the opportunity to perform on the PPAC stage during the Ocean State Star Awards showcase and ceremony on Sunday, June 1 featuring talented students and theater programs from all over Rhode Island.
